The city Kirov

The city of Kirov - administrative centre of one of the largest regions in the European part of Russian Federation is situated on the high left bank of the Vyatka river, 900 km from Moscow. The area of the city is 748 thousand sq. km., it is divided into four administrative districts. The population is 513 thousand people. Kirov is a large industrial, transport and cultural centre. It is a point of crossing of the main raylways lines connecting North- West and Centre of Russia with the Urals, Siberia and Far East, and also with the northern regions of the country.
Kirov is famous in Russia and abroad for the products of heavy machine-building, aircraft, machine-tool, wood-processing and light industries, folk craft - famous Dymkovskaya toy, souveniers from birch-bark. The washing machines, electric cookers, furniture, skies, wallboards, clothes and foot-wear, leather and fur articles are produced here.
Industrial complex plays the leading part in economics of the city, from the point of view of providing with working places and of forming of city budget. The biggest industial enterprises of the city are: Vyatka State Machine-Building Enterprise "Avitek"; JSC "Artificial Leather Plant"; Novovyatsky Skies-making Plant; Stock Company "Electrical Machine-Building Plant named in honour of Lepse" and others. Also well-known are enterprises of food industry: JSC "Kirov Factory of Frosen Products", JSC "Vyatich", "Kirov Diary Factory" and others. Small and medium business also contributes greatly to the development of the economical potential of the city.
